It’s difficult to identify the lies if you’re not consciously looking for them, so today I’m going to describe 7 examples of lies that singles commonly believe.
In those desperate, late night moments when the enemy is trying to ensnare you in his sticky web of lies, God is there to remind you that you are worthy, you are fierce, you are precious, and you are loved. You are worth fighting for.
When we allow God into our lives and we put our faith in Jesus Christ, God takes what once was torn up, beaten, bruised, burned and He makes it new, just like with the land after a wildfire.
As a single person, starting out yet another new year relationshipless and with no prospects of any future relationships, it can be hard to believe that anyone could ever love me. It’s hard to believe that I’m worth it. When I can’t even control myself around some leftover cookies, I feel like I’m utterly hopeless and those thoughts of “why even bother” begin to creep in. Those thoughts that say “you’ll never be pretty enough,” “you’ll never be thin enough,” “you’ll never be enough.” Those are the lies that I try so hard to fight back against. And that fight is impossible without Jesus by my side.
As single people we are often influenced by the emotional, psychological, and biological drive to be in a romantic relationship... Wearing your helmet by being confident in God’s plan and the facts of your salvation help to protect your mind from the doubt, anger, and bitterness that can then take up residence in your heart if you don't trust in God's promise.
Faith in Jesus and fostering a solid relationship with Him is one of the weapons God has given us (His children/ faith soldiers) to ward off the fiery arrows of the enemy.
That is what God’s peace does for us. It grounds us in place so that we can stand upright and fight in battle.
The thing is, our singleness could very well be an act of obedience to God’s expectations for this season or for our lifetime.
So don’t give up hope completely my dear friends, because God is out there fighting for you and He’s giving us the armor we need to fight alongside Him. We just need to be willing to accept it!
